Dream Home 2008
I recently read a pretty cool story about how Schumacher Homes built a home called DREAM HOME 2008 to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Bowling Green, Ohio. Mary Schumacher Becker, Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Schumacher Homes was quoted as saying, “Our children are the future and we are happy and proud to have a share in their well-being.”
Schumacher Homes builds in Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and West Virginia. It was established in 1992 by Paul Schumacher and has rapidly grown over the last 16 years.
Charitable Dream Homes are built around the country every year. Tickets are sold to win the dream home at $100 each and the proceeds go towards a charitable foundation such as St. Jude’s. The raffle was held June 8 and Ashley Caputo of Toledo, OH ended up winning the dream home.
The St. Jude Dream Home raised $551,000 in ticket sales and donations for research and treatment at St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The house ended up being 3,052 square feet with 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a 2 story great room, sunroom, a 2 story stone fireplace, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. I wouldn’t mind moving into the dream home myself. I like reading about great companies like Schumacher Homes giving back to the community.
